Wasafi Records’ newest signee Zuhura Kopa alias Zuchu has revealed that she waited for four years before she could be unveiled as an artiste in Wasafi records.

Speaking to Baraka FM’s #themegabreakfast show on Friday morning hosted by Okumu and Macaaney, Zuchu revealed that she recorded a lot of songs during the four years but most of them were never approved for shooting of videos and being released.

“ I never gave up because I knew the management wanted me to continue working to perfect my skill. So I did not raise questions, Instead, I continue working to perfect my craft” Zuchu said.

During then, Zuchu worked as a voice-over artist for the label which by then she kept postponing her music retirement date by every six months.

The sultry-voiced artiste who is the daughter to Legendary Taarab singer Khadija Kopa said that not even her mother’s influence could help her break in the music industry at the time and this forced her to take up a day job so as to help her pay her bills.

“At some point, I was working and doubling up as a recording artist so I used to spend all my free time in the studio and no one noticed that I had a day job,” Zuchu said.

Zuchu currently has seven hits  including Wana which has garnered four million views on youtube.
