5,000 health officers will be employed to boost the fight against Covid-19 pandemic.
Speaking on Thursday while presneting his sh. 2.1 trillion budget, Treasury CS Ukur Yatani said the offciers will be employed for a period of one year.
He said sh.1.2 billion will be set aside for contracting them while sh. 500 million will be used to provide 20,000 beds to public hospitals across the country.
This comes as covid-19 cases in the country contiue to rise everyday.
On Thursday 121 people tested positive for covid-19 bringing total number of infections to 3,215 with Mombasa reporting 20 positive cases and Kilifi reporting two.
A total of 92 people have succumbed to covid-19 after three more people died yesterday.
