Four more succumb to COVID-19 in the country

Four more people have succumbed to COVID-19 with one of the case coming from Mombasa county.

This is according to the chief administrative secretary Rashid Aman who revealed that during the daily COVID-19 country update on Wednesday.

Amani said in the last 24hours, the country has lost four patients,one originating from Mombasa and the other three are from the county of Nairobi.

“It always pains to announce a death but this pandemic will claim lives. I sadly announce that today we have lost 4 patients to COVID-19,three in Nairobi and one in Mombasa,” Said Aman.

The number now brings to 40  those that have succumbed to the disease.

Consequently, Mombasa county has confirmed eight more cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours with areas of Mvita leading with 7 and Nyali 1 case.

Nationwide, Nairobi recorded 10 more cases,3 from Kajiado and one from Bomet county bringing the total number of cases to 22 in the past 24 hours.

The ministry now says the country has recorded 737 confirmed cases of the disease.

The ministry of health has also confirmed that  22 people were discharged from the hospital after testing negative bringing the total number of those discharged to 281.

In order to boost the testing capacity, Amani said that the country onTuesday received a consignment of 8,000 testing kits and expecting 18,000 more in the course of the week.
