Commuters using ferries at Likoni channel will now wash their hands before boarding the vessels.

A spot check by Baraka FM revealed workers busy installing several hand washing taps.

The taps are strategically placed on the walls of security scanners on both sides of the channel.

Earlier, Kenya ferry services was on the spot for failing to implement the hand washing directive by the Mombasa County Emergency Response team on Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

Hundreds of commuters were on Monday morning forced to cross the Likoni channel without washing hands with soap and water.

This comes as number of coronavirus cases in the country rose  to 7.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe said three more patients tested positive for the coronavirus and have been quarantined.
