President Uhuru Kenyatta has suspended learning in all education institutions with immediate effect.

Learners in day schools, both primary and secondary schools, will not report to school from tomorrow, Monday 16th March, 2020.

Those in boarding schools are expected home by Wednesday 18th March, 2020 while all institutions of higher learning are expected to be closed by Friday 20th march, 2020.

This comes after two more cases of coronavirus were confirmed in the country making the total three.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe says the two, a Kenyan and a British-Kenyan Citizens, came into contact with the first reported case in the plane.

“These people were sitting with her in the plane, not those she came in contact with here. We have tested people even in her neighborhood but so far there’s nothing,” said Kagwe.

The directive from the President came just a day after his Rwandan counterpart Paul Kagame also ordered for the closure of schools and churches in Rwanda due to the virus.
