Driver flees, abandons vehicle with bhang worth 5.6 million

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations are looking for the driver of a Toyota Probox Registration number KBW 512C who was ferrying over 267Kgs of bhang.

According to the DCI, the bhang was seized on Tuesday night at the Kisumu Ndogo area in Nairobi after a fully packed vehicle was intercepted by DCI detectives based at Starehe.

The DCI estimate the bhang seized was worth sh.5.6 million in street value, an amount equal to 37,000 packets of 2Kgs maize flour or 28,000 packets of 1Kg Pishori rice that can be used to feed the needy.

Upon being cornered, the driver of the vehicle abandoned the Probox and fled on foot to avoid being arrested.

“The hard drug which was in 2,732 loose rolls has since been handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Unit for safe custody & the vehicle detained,” said the DCI.

The owner of the vehicle, as per the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) records, Polycarp Otieno Aduda is also being sought by the DCI.
