Embakasi east legislator Babu Owino is set to spend seven more days in remand to allow his alleged victim Felix Orinda’s alias DJ evolve’s opinion to be taken into account before the court can make a ruling on whether to release him on bail or not.

Owino who appeared before Nairobi Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi on Monday denied charges of attempted murder and being disorderly while in possession of a firearm.

Babu is being represented by lawyers Danstan Omari,Cliff Ombeta and five others had applied for bail which the prosecution objected arguing that he had the ability to interfere with the witnesses.

The legislator spent the weekend behind bars after being arrested on Friday morning hours after allegedly shooting his victim at the Upmarket B-club in Kilimani’s Galana plaza.

His victim who is currently admitted at the Nairobi hospital has undergone two surgeries, one to remove the bullet and another one to remove a clot both of which had been lodged in his neck.

His lawyer Cliff Ombeta had told the court that Owino had taken the victim to court and paid his bill.

Nine bullets, a spent cartridge, and a CZ P-10 C gun were confiscated after detectives ransacked the night club in Kilimani area and his house in Kileleshwa on Friday and Saturday.
