Men accused of killing a Mombasa policeman set free

Mombasa,KENYA: Five suspects accused of killing a Mombasa police officer have been released after the prosecution failed to link them with the murder.

Mohammed Mwaande, Mohammed Salim, Kassim Ahmed, Mohammed Kassim and Ali Omar were accused of killing Simon Lochode in Bondeni area in Mombasa 2015.

The officer was guarding a local bank in the area when he was ambushed and shot dead.

The suspects were also charged with theft of a G3 rifle and 20 rounds of ammunition belonging to the deceased.

Mombasa  Senior resident Magistrate Edigah Kagon ruled that despite the gun being found, the prosecutor’s office failed to link the suspects to the robbery with violence incident.
