Editors guild membership has re-elected Kenya Broadcasting Corporation editor Samuel Maina as vice president.
Maina garnered 30 votes against KTN’s Zubeida Koome who garnered 20 votes out of a total of 51 votes.
But the guild was forced to postpone the election of online member bearer after it emerged that voted results indicated that there was a tie between Robin Njogu and Faith Aneya both who garnered 25 votes each with one spoilt vote.
Media Council of Kenya CEO David Omwoyo who was manning the exercise ruled that the membership must go for a re-run whereby the pronouncement on the same will be executed after five days.
“For the position of the online member, another election will be done later. The date will be announced in five days “Omwoyo said
The president of the guild Churchill Otieno said that the officials have an enormous task in making sure that practitioners uphold journalistic values and they are protected from any form of attack as they perform their duties.
The council membership includes Churchill Otieno as president, Samuel Maina as vice president, George Nyaboga representing academia, Ruth Nesoba representing radio, Macharia Gaitho, and Arthur Okwemba as trustees.
