Good news for mothers as lactating facility is launched at Huduma Centre, Mombasa

Mombasa, KENYA: Lactating mothers in Mombasa can now use the lactating facility at Huduma Center to breastfeed their babies.

The facility which will allow lactating mothers to breastfeed their babies while waiting to be served was launched on Tuesday.

Mombasa County Health executive Hazel Koitaba said the lactating facility is the first in Kenya and will allow mothers to breastfeed their babies as recommended.

“The facility will ensure that the entire staff and those mothers coming in to be served are taken care of,” said Koitaba.

Mombasa Public Health Director Shem Patta said the facility will allow women to breastfeed their babies easily.

“I understand there are challenges that lactating mothers face. This facility will help address some of those challenges,” Patta said.
