Mombasa, KENYA: Mombasa residents living in Junda ward have cried foul over the dilapidated state of the roads in the area, despite Deputy President William Ruto in 2018 saying that the government would rehabilitate the Junda-Ngomeni Road.

Several motorists and boda boda operators now want the roads to be fixed as their conditions can lead to accidents.

Boda boda operators in the area say the County government have been collecting taxes but have done nothing to fix the road.

“If the government does not recognize a bad road, there is a good chance it will not be responsible for any damage the condition causes,” Junda Motorcycle Chairman known as Jabes.

A visit by Baraka FM reporter established that sections of the road appear to have been washed away, leaving behind potholes filled with stagnant water.

“Its now 3-4 regimes of leaders but nothing has happened or is happening to date to renovate the road. We have heard rumors that Junda is not in the Mombasa County government’s budget though the rumor is not yet confirmed,” said Ali Hathuma a resident and motorcycle operator in Junda.
