Security tightened during festive season

Nairobi, KENYA: The government has reiterated its commitment to tighten security during this festive season across the country.

In a media briefing in Nairobi, Inspector General (IG) of police Joseph Boinett said that the government has employed mechanisms to oversee the December festivity which entails Christmas and new year go through efficiently.

He said that the mechanism touches on security matters especially on terrorism ,crime and road safety.

He urged Wananchi and motorists to strictly adhere to traffic regulations to avert any form of accidents in the country.

“We are set and prepared to provide security throughout the country. It’s responsibility of all motor users,they should adhere to the law and give consideration to other people,” Boinett said.

“Up to 40% percent f deaths we have in our road is attributed to carelessness on the road. Let’s exercise due care and attention in using the road,” he added.

He also urged Wananchi to report any suspicious activities and objects which might be linked to terror activities.

He reiterated that the police will use alcoblow during the day to make sure that traffic laws are adhered to during this festive season.
