Mombasa, KENYA: A 35-year-old woman died on Friday night after she was run over by a matatu on the pavement along Mtongwe, Kenya Navy road in Likoni.
According to eye witnesses, the matatu lost control and hit the woman who was standing on the pavement at about 9 pm.
Confirming the incident, Likoni OCPD Benjamin Rotich said that it is suspected the matatu had a mechanical problem.
“I cannot confirm the cause of accident but the matatu is still brand new and it may have had mechanical problem,” said Rotich.
The body of the deceased is at Coast general hospital while the driver is receiving treatment.
