Mombasa, KENYA: Former National Construction Authority chief and acting Kenya Ports Authority MD Daniel Manduku has been confirmed as the new Kenya Ports Authority managing director.
The confirmation has been made by the Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia.
“Following the submission of a shortlist of three candidates, I have appointed Dr. Daniel Ogwoka Manduku as the managing director of Kenya Ports Authority with effect from November 30,” Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia said.
The CS maintained that the process of recruiting a new managing director of Kenya Ports Authority was rigorous, fair and transparent.
“It involved advertising of the post based on the job description. I wish to confirm that the shortlisting and interviewing was transparent and based on a verifiable process,” he said.
The official confirmation has come after Manduku served in an acting capacity since June after Catherine Muturi-Wairi was sent on compulsory leave in May with board citing lack of lack of effective leadership and non-responsive work culture.
Transport Principal Secretary Prof. Arch. Paul M. Maringa has great confidence with the new MD noting that he is fully aware of what is expected of his duties.
“We have given the new MD a clear command structure of all agencies working at the Port. We expect collaboration from all the agencies involved in driving efficient services at the Port,” said the PS.
