Arrested NHIF bosses to know fate on Monday

Nairobi,KENYA:National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) CEO Geoffrey Mwangi and Finance director Wilbert Kurgat will remain in detention awaiting their fate on Monday.

The two were arrested on Friday evening by officers from the Directorate of criminal investigation for obstructing investigation on corruption at the parastal.

Geoffrey Mwangi and Wilbert Kurgat were summoned at the DCI headquarters along Kiambu road before being detained at Muthaiga police station.

“They have been arrested and are being questioned over claims of graft at the insurance agency amounting to more than Sh1 billion,” DCI boss George Kinoti confirmed the arrest.

The arrest of the two comes a time when the Director of Criminal Investigation George Kinoti and DPP Noordin Haji have intensified President Uhuru Kenyatta’s fight on corruption.
