Nairobi, KENYA: Citizen TV news presenter Jacque Maribe and her fiance Joseph Irungu will have to spend one more week in remand as they await their bail hearing.

High Court Judge James Wakiaga on Wednesday morning set the bail hearing for Maribe and Irungu for 24th October, which will be next Wednesday.

The judge also ordered for a social inquiry report from the probation officers to be filed for the court by 23rd October.

Wakiaga, who took over after Judge Jessie Lessit recused herself  from the case, also warned the media against publishing information that is likely to influence the trial.

“From now that this file is before me, those statements which you keep on telling us about what you’ve done, what you’ve not done, the money which has not been collected and recovered.. from now on, you should stop writing them,” the Judge warned.

“Let’s try to be kind to all of us because I am the one who is likely to hear this matter, and the information you put outside there would put me in a lot of difficult situations if I acquit these guys,” he added.

Wakiaga also warned involved parties from releasing incorrect information regarding the trial.

“Anybody who gives information which is not information will find it very difficult with me,” he warned.

Maribe and her fiance were charged with murder of Monica Kimani, 28, on Monday before High Court Judge Jessie Lessit, they both denied the charges.
