Prosecutors to undergo three months training before assuming duties

Newly recruited prosecutors will from now on have to undergo a mandatory 3 months training before assuming their duties.

According to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) social media handle, plans to establish a training institute are nearly complete.

“The DPP Noordin Haji has said that plans to establish a Prosecutors’ Training Institute (PTI) to build the capacity of prosecutors and other staff in order to improve quality of prosecution services were at an advanced stage,” read the statement.

Training for the first batch will start in the beginning of next month.

“The first batch of the 70 newly recruited prosecutors are set to be the first beneficiaries of the training scheduled from October 1st 2018,” read the statement.

The DPP was speaking in a meeting with officials from the Anti Counterfeit Agency (ACA), who paid him a courtesy call in his office, where he promised to gazette more delegated prosecutors for ACA.
