Wanyama and Mariga missing in squad to face Ghana

Two days to the highly anticipated match where Harambee stars  is set to lock horns with Ghana’s Black stars, key players for the national team have been locked out.

The team’s captain, Tottenham midfielder Victor Wanyama has been left out of the final squad named on Wednesday by the head Coach Sebastian Migne.

“He is recovering from injury. It is a huge setback for us as he is a very important player for the team but we cannot risk his future.” Migne said.

Other players who will be missing in the  Saturday 8th September AFCON Qualifier against Ghana Blackstars consists of Brian Bwire, Gor’s Boniface Oluoch who never showed up, Samuel Onyango, Mc Donald Mariga, Paul Were, George Odhiambo, Clifton Miheso and AFC Leopards midfielders Whyvonne Isuzu and Duncan Otieno.

Allan Wanga, Masud Juma and Mathare’s Cliff Nyakeya did not make it for the final squad either.

The final squad consists of Goalkeepers Patrick Matasi, Farouk Shikalo, and Ian Otieno.

Defenders David Ochieng, Eric Ouma, Joseph Okumu, Musa Mohammed, David Owino, Philemon Otieno, Jockins Atudo, Dennis Odhiambo, Joash Onyango, Benard Ochieng, and Abud Omar.

Midfielders will be led by Francis Kahata, Abdallah Hassan, Anthony Akumu, Eric Johanna, Ismail Gonzalez and Johanna Omollo.

Michael Olunga will be amongst the forwards alongside, Piston Mutamba, Jesse Were and Ovella Ochieng.

The match will kick off at 1600hours.
