Taj mall to go down in two weeks!!

Nairobi, KENYA: Government has issued a two weeks demolition notice to the tenants of Airgate mall formerly known as Taj Mall.

The notice which was issued by Moses Nyakiongora, chair of the multi-sectoral committee on unsafe structures, wants occupants/Tenants at the mall to immediately vacate the building prior to the expiration of the notice.

“The owner(s) developers(s) are asked to remove this illegal development before 30th August 2018,” read the statement.

The building is said to encroach on the road reserve and wayleave hindering the continuance of construction of the outering road.

This comes days after Southend Mall, which sits on a river bed just opposite T-Mall along the Mbagathi and lang’ata Road junction was also demolished under instructions from the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA).

The building worth over sh.2 billion was not spared in the exercise that also saw Ukay mall in Westslands get demolished by NEMA as it moves to reclaim riparian land.
