After close of the transfer window on Thursday night, the first match for the 2018/2019 English premier league kicks off tonight.

Jose Mourinho’s Manchester united will be hosting Leicester city at Old Trafford at 10pm.

Conversely the new season gets underway with new rules.

For the managers, four warnings from the referee will see a manager receive a one-match ban. Eight warnings through the season will result to a two-match ban. Twelve warnings lead to three and 16 is an FA misconduct ban.

For the players, any warning they receive will be specific to the competition they were playing in at the time. A yellow card in an FA Cup game, will not count towards a suspension in the Premier League.

However, red cards will apply across all competitions.

Onto tonight’s match, Jose Mourinho has said the title winners will be ‘clear’ by November this year.

The Portuguese who spent £68 million to bring in Fred, Diogo Dalot and Goalkeeper Lee Grant also says he’s happy with his team.

On the other hand Leicester, who has had a better transfer window, bringing in Fanny Ward from Liverpool and Filip Benkovic from Dinamo Zagreb, will further boost their confidence of going into the match.

The biggest match over the weekend will see the defending champions Manchester city face Arsenal on Sunday.
