Mombasa, KENYA: Mombasa court has sentenced a man who killed a model in Mombasa to death.
Robert Alaula will serve a death sentence after court found him guilty of murdering Mombasa based model Janet Asuna Adhiambo.
Adhiambo was killed in her house in Kizingoa estate Mombasa in April 2016.
Court found that Alaula sold the mobile phone of the deceased at sh.3,000 and withdrew sh.26,000 from her M-pesa account.
“Prosecution has proved its case beyond any reasonable doubt and therefore the accused person is convicted accordingly,” ruled Chief magistrate Julius Nang’ea.
Nang’ea sentenced the convict to death after the prosecution told the court that he should be treated as a first offender.
“The evidence shows that the deceased went through a lot of pain before her death and the person committed the offence must also be punished severely,” said Nang’ea.
In another case, Prison warder accused of shooting Mombasa County inspectorate was on Thursday released on a surety bond of sh.500,000.
Samuel Mwita allegedly shot Patrick Omondi at Buxton area at around 7:30pm on Tuesday.
Police said the bullet went through Omondi’s ear. He was rushed to Coast Provincial General Hospital where he was treated and discharged .
Principle magistrate Henry Nyakweba directed the suspect, who claims to be sick, be taken to hospital for the treatment before pleading to the charges on 10th August.
Court ordered Mwita to be detained at Makupa police station.
