Former Miss Tanzania Wema Sepetu has escaped a one-year jail term after paying a fine.

This is after she was found guilty of possessing and using bhang.

Wema Sepetu was found using bhang on 1st January 2017.

Tanzanian authorities had claimed that during a crackdown in her house they had nabbed two of her employees with bhang.

After being arrested, Wema spent a week in remand before she was arraigned at the Kisitu magistrates court on 8th February .

Wema Sepetu’s lawyer Alberto Msando has confirmed that the talented actress will not be going to jail after paying the fine.

The case is said to have severed Wema’s support for the Tanzanian ruling party CCM as a few weeks after being arraigned in court, Wema announced that she had crossed over to the opposition party, CHADEMA before crossing back to CCM a few months later.
