Mombasa,KENYA:Police in Mombasa have arrested a man who allegedly attempted to defile 8 year old girl.
It is alleged that members of the public who were going to work Monday morning sighted a tuktuk parked inside a bush and upon a closer look, they found the suspect attempting to defile the minor.
Mombasa police commander Jonstone Ipara said that the suspect Mr.Elvis Mweki hails from Changamwe and he had driven the minor over 25 Km before attempting to defile her.
‘Luckily enough members of the public informed the police before the man defiled the minor. Maybe he could have killed her. ’said Ipara.
The suspect is said to be a well known person to the minor’s parents since he drops her to school everyday.
Mr.Ipara has called upon Mombasa residents to be keen with who they entrust their children to.
He also confirmed that the minor had undergone a medical check up at the Coast general hospital but the doctor ruled out nothing had happened to the minor.
The suspect will be arraiged in court to face charges of attempted defilement.
