Mombasa,KENYA:The Ministry of Land will issue 40,000 title deeds to the six Counties at the coastal region before June.
Addressing journalists in Mombasa, the CAS for the Ministry of Land Gideon Mung’aro said that the coastal region is set to benefit from the programme that targets to issue 450,000 title deeds countrywide .
‘The Ministry of Land is digitizing it’s registry to ensure citizens can access service from the registry via mobile phone’said Mung’aro.
Mung’aro said that once the County land registries are digitized it will help in resettling squatters in the Country.
“We are aware as the Ministry that some squatters are a nuisance because even if they are resettled, they will sell their piece of land and move to settle to another person’s land but when we digitize our services we will get hold of them” said Mung’aro.
He further called upon coastal residents to ensure they pick their title deeds from the land offices.
Land ownership has always been a hot potato in the Coast region.
