120 suspected Wakali Kwanza , Watalia gang members nabbed in Likoni

 Mombasa,KENYA:Police in Likoni have rounded up a total of 120 people suspected to be members of the notorious  Wakali Kwanza ,Watalia ,Wajuku wa bibi  criminal gangs .

The suspects were rounded up in various parts of Likoni, Thursday by authorities.

According to Likoni police boss Benjamin Rotich who confirmed trhe incident,the  suspects were nabbed after after a contigent of about 200 armed police officers drawn from the regular  police office unit ,administration police armed with sniffer dogs raid the targeted multiple hideouts .

The crackdown began at around 5.00am on Thursday.

Police also seized several crude weapons like machetes from the suspects.

Police sources who took part in the operation told Baraka FM those arrested include suspected members of some of the most dangerous gang accused of terrorizing residents in Kwale and Mombasa towns.

The arrest comes barely a week after police killed atleast 12 suspected criminal gang members in Mombasa.

In Likoni alone 8 suspects have been gunned down since Monday while the rest have been gunned down in Kisauni and Nyali sub-counties.

Police say a full report on the arrest is set to be released later.
