On Thursday last week, Africa woke up to the news that Ugandan singer Moses Ssekibogo popularly known as Mowzey radio of the Radio and Weasel group had breathed his last at Case hospital in the Ugandan capital Kampala.
Mowzey had been in a comma for close to two weeks after he sustained head injuries during a bar brawl at de bar a club which has since been closed down by the Entebbe municipal council over the incident.
Ugandan singer Radio Mowzey is dead
On Saturday during his funeral, Mowzey’s mother Jane Kasubo appealed to the Ugandan government to bring to book her sons killers.
On Sunday, Ugandan police arrested one Godfery Wamala who has been linked to the death of the 33-year-old singer.
“Katwe Police have arrested the suspected killer of singer Radio Mowzey. The suspect Godfrey Wamala was found at a friend’s home in Kyengera where he had been hiding,” Ugandan police said on Monday.
The police further said that the suspect would later be transferred to Entebbe police station after questioning.
This comes a few hours after his Producer, Washington who has received widespread criticism on social media over remaining mute on the incident despite being among the people who were with the deceased when the incident that would later claim his life happened spoke.
Speaking to Ugandan TV show NBS in the morning, Washington said that the deceased who had been drinking with a lady identified as Pamela had poured a bottle of whisky on a bar manager who was speaking ill about him.
“In about 5 minutes, the manager got very angry and threw the table away.He (bar manager) then came for Radio and they were separated by this tall guy, Troy, and Hassan.I told Pamela to pick Radio out because they were together. The bar manager was taken properly into the bar. On the way out, towards the door of the club, this tall guy, Troy, came shouting ‘you have disrespected the owner of the bar’. He lifted Radio up and threw him down, heard him hit his head down.” Washington said during the show.
Washington identified the guy who had been nabbed by police as the suspect who threw the Zuena hitmaker to the ground and dispelled rumors doing rounds that owing to Mowzey’s history of getting caught up in fights, he must have fought at the bar.
