Four dead in Tana river road carnage

Tana River,KENYA:Four people  lost their lives on the spot on Monday morning after the vehicle they were travelling in rolled severally at Buto Banta along the Nairobi – Garisa highway in Tana River County.

Speaking to Baraka FM , Bura OCPD Mr. Tom Okoth said the four died on the spot while four others were injured.

The officer said that the tyre of the vehicle burst  moments before it rolled severally.

Mr. Okoth confirmed that the injuries had been rushed to Garisa county referral hospital for treatment.

The incident occurred at Buto Banta, a famous black spot in Tana River County which is some kilometers from Bangale trading center in Tana North Sub County.

The vehicle was heading to Nairobi from Garisa when the accident occurred .

According to eye witnesses, a woman from Madogo area in the county who was among the survivors lost her two kids in the grisly accident.

The Buto Banta blackspot has claimed lives of about twenty people in road accidents and injured dozens over the past 6 months.

The OCPD affirmed that he would consult with Kenya National Highway Authority KeNHA on the possibilities of having a bump constructed along the road to prevent vehicles from over speeding so as to suppress the frequent occurrence of accidents in the area.
