Mombasa,KENYA:A suspected robber was on Saturday morning killed by an angry mob in Mt Sinai area of Likoni.
According to police sources, the suspect who was in company of five had broken into a car garage in an attempt to steal in the 6 am incident.
The suspect sustained serious injuries from the beating by the irate mob that led to his death .
The mob then burnt him before the arrival of the police
“We understand that they were in group of five,one was caught and beaten to death before he was burnt,”Likoni police chief Benjamin Rotich confirmed.
“Four others escaped and police are pursuing them”,he added.
He warned the public against taking law into their hands saying innocent people may fall victim and such matters should be reported to the police.
The suspect is yet to be identified.
The police boss also cautioned criminal gangs residing in the sub-county asking them to look for other business as their days were running short.
The body of the deceased was taken to Coast General mortuary,as investigations commenced.
The incident comes just a day after a message warning criminals in Likoni to surrender of be dealt with by members of the public emerged.
However the source of the message has not yet be known .
