Nairobi, KENYA: Neddy Atieno starred with a hat-trick as Harambee Starlets cruised past Mozambique 5-2 in their opening match of the Confederation of Southern African Football Associations COSAFA played at in Luveve stadium on Thursday.

Starlets kicked off the clash on a low note allowing their opponents to take the lead twice before Neddy Atieno confirmed her return to the national team with twin strikes before the breather.

After the half-time team talk, Starlets came back breathing fire firing from all the cylinders with Mwanahalima Adam tormenting Mozambican defense from the wing.

The former St. Johns Kaloleni student finally got her name on the score-sheet in the 85th minute, prodding home Kenya’s third goal with Neddy making it four and her third for the day minutes later.

Phoebe Owiti summed up the goals galore with a sublime free-kick which left the Mozambican goalkeeper flat footed, sending Starlets into frenzy with the fifth goal.
