Nairobi,KENYA: Seven students have died after a fire razed down their dormitory at Moi Girls School in Kibra Nairobi.
Dozens of others injured in the 2:00am incident.
Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i who arrived at the scene, has ordered the school be closed for two weeks to allow investigations.
He said said 10 students were injured and are admitted to hospital.
“We have 1o students who have been admitted to hospital right now. Two of them with serious injuries, the other eight do not have serious injuries but they are being addressed right now”, he said.
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko who also was at the scene, has pledged to renovate the dormitory.
He further directed County Education Department officials to inspect schools to ensure safety standard are maintained.
