Nairobi,KENYA:Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has insisted that it will announce only the final presidential results and it will not allow many agents per party at the polling centers
In a media briefing in Nairobi, ,IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati said that the commission will announce the final presidential results indicating that announcing results as they trickle in will be a repetitive affair.
“The role of the national tallying center is to verify that the winning presidential candidate attained 50 plus one percent ,and the candidate has obtained at least 25 percent of votes at least in 24 counties.”Chebukati said
He insisted that the results received from the grassroots will not be altered by the commission at the tallying center .
He also indicated that the decision with regard to declaration of results can be subject only to an election petition.
Chebukati said that only one agent per political party will be allowed to represent it in a given polling station.
He insisted that the commission will allow people to gather 400 metres from the polling station insisting that anybody who will go against that will flout the electoral code of conduct.
NASA has been defiant about using its ‘adopt a polling station’ strategy, which will see the Political alliance deploy five agents in each of the 40,883 polling stations across the country.
