Nairobi, KENYA: President Uhuru Kenyatta on Friday rewarded the Kenyan team which did duty in the recently concluded IAAF World Under-18 Championships that was held in Nairobi.
The head of state who hosted the athletes for a break-first in the State House Nairobi pledges that the Government will pay school fees and scholarship for the students in the team.
Mr. Kenyatta also offered the team a four-holiday treat at the Mombasa Beach Hotel starting Saturday, besides each of the 42 athletes and 32 officials being rewarded with Sh100,000.
The Kenyan team which was made up of High School students won 15 medals; four gold, seven-silver and four bronze, coming fourth behind South Africa, China and Cuba which took first, second and third positions respectively.
