Public works PS Mariam El-Maawy has been rescued by KDF officers in Lamu county a few hours after being hijacked by suspected Alshabaab militants in Lamu county.
Sources indicate that Mariam was rescued “Unhurt but feeling shocked”.
Sources indicate that Mariam who was travelling in a Toyota Prado with 5 others was abducted by the militants 30 in number between Mpeketoni and Hindi areas who disarmed a GSU vehicle that was escorting them.
Reports also indicate that the suspected militants had earlier hacked to death two occupants of a Toyota probox vehicle.
