Mombasa,KENYA:Approximately  28 tonnes of stolen fertilizer were recovered in Changamwe .The fertilizer was recovered on Friday in an operation involving local police officers and the Texas Alarms security group .

According to the Customer relations manager at the Texas security group Bernad Odhiambo who spoke to Media on Monday, the fertilizer was recovered after they received a call from the operations manager at Buzeki enterprises, who had been contracted to transport the fertilizer reporting that one of their trucks had been traced driving into a yard that had previously been linked with suspicious activities in the Port Reitz area on 31st May.

The manager said that they contracted security officers who went into the yard and found the fertilizer offloaded on a tent.

Confirming the incident is the Changamwe DCIO Francis Wanjau who talked to Baraka FM on phone saying that so far 12 suspects had been arrested in connection with the fertilizer and most of them had mentioned a character known as ‘Murefu’ as the owner of the godown.

He however said that the driver of the truck was still at large and they were working with his employer Buzeki enterprises to help track him.

The suspects are expected to be arraigned in court on Monday.
