Busia,KENYA:ODM national elections board on Friday nullified the Busia gubernatorial nomination results in which incumbent governor Sospeter Ojaamong’ was declared the winner.

According to a press release from the board through the chairperson Judith Pareno, the decision was arrived at after they  noticed major irregularities in the completed nominations.

Pareno further stated that the results announced by county election board could cause discordance among their party  members in Busia hence the cancellation.

But the board has also maintained that nomination results in the other seats would remain the as they were.

The board has also ordered a repeat of the exercise  on 25th April.

Ojaamong garnered 92,358 votes against Funyula Mp Paul Otuoma who got 63,752.

He was handed over a provisional certificate by the Busia county ODM returning officer Joseph Juma.

Otuoma had contested the results alluding to foul play in Teso constituency.

“How come voters in Teso are more than what IEBC register shows? We believe there was foul play. However, let the elections board rectify this situation,’ he said.

The ODM party primaries are scheduled to kickoff next week in the different counties.
