Kwale, KENYA: National reigning champions Kaya Tiwi from Kwale successfully retained Girls’ Basketball title during the Matuga District Secondary Schools Term 2A games held over the weekend at their backyard.

Kaya Tiwi who double up as the East African champions proved too strong to handle by beating Lukore 79-02, Piet Academy 98-0, Waa Girls’ 85-03 and Matuga 69-06 to emerge victors.

In girls’ hockey, Matuga High were crowned champions for the second year running following a 2-0 uniform wins over Waa and Shimba Hills before sharing the spoils with Kwale Girls in a 0-0 stalemate.

Waa retained boys’ title after thumping Kwale Seminary 5-0 coupling up with identical 1-0 victories against Kwale High and Shimba Hills.

In rugby Sevens, Kwale were crowned champions with three wins in as many matches while Waa Boys, Mkongani and Lukore followed respectively.

The two day event saw teams compete in different disciplines among them decathlon and heptathlon.
