Nairobi, KENYA: Kenya Medical Association has ordered their members to down their tools as from Tuesday mid night in solidarity with the KMPDU doctors who were jailed on Monday.

In a media briefing in Nairobi led by KMA Chair Dr Jacqueline Kitulu and sec general Prof Lukoye Atwoli, they said that all dental, pharmacists ,and medical associations in government ,private and mission hospitals have been forced to take such measures due to deterioration being witnessed in health sector; leading to jailing of their counterparts after talks on their pay hike flopped.

“We announce that all our members in health facilities and institutions shall not be offering any services for 48 hours effective midnight today.” Dr Kitulu said.

Dr Kitulu said that no negotiations on pay hike will go on until KMPDU officials are released.

The association revoked the membership of Dr Cleophas Mailu and Dr Nicholas Muraguri for one year for the role they played in the stalemate.

“In view of their role in the ongoing crisis and their crimes of omission and commission ,KMA hereby revokes the membership of Dr Cleophas Mailu and Dr Nicholas Muraguri effective for one year.” Dr Kitulu said.

However ,they said that they are willing to be enjoined in the mediation to offer technical support and ensure there is a resolution of the crisis.

They urged president Uhuru Kenyatta to sack Health CS Dr Cleophas Mailu and principal sec Dr Nicholas Muraguri for failing to avert crisis in health sector.
