A family in Timboni village of Watamu in Kilifi County is seeking justice for their 19 year old daughter whose body was found dumped in a thicket opposite Watamu primary school.

The body of the late Neema Kahindi was found on Tuesday, three days after she disappeared with her family saying she was raped, and killed before her body was doused with acid.

According to the deceased’s cousin Dickson Kiti, Neema who was working in a restaurant in the area had just completed her night shift when she left her workplace but unfortunately she did not report home.

“We went and made a report on Saturday and the police officers advised us continue searching for her and if we do not find her, we should go back on Tuesday to file a missing persons report. On Tuesday we heard reports that a body had been found and when we went to view it we found it was her. “ Kiti told Baraka Fm.

Kiti added the late Neema who completed high school in 2017 was raped and killed before being doused with acid and the only thing that was recognizable from her was her belongings.

The deceased had completed high school in 2017 and her parents took her for a tailoring course before she secured employment at the restaurant.

A somber mood engulfed the village on Thursday as the deceased was being laid to rest with human rights activists calling upon security officers to move with speed to arrest the perpetrators.

According to Kiti, the family was forced to conduct a burial hurriedly as the body was in a bad state.

“ We are pained as a family, no one can understand the magnitude of our pain.Kahindi was well behaved and she had set a good example for us in the family. We are calling upon police officers help us find justice” Kiti said.

No one has been arrested over the incident so far.
