President William Ruto on Friday nominated interior CS Prof. Kithure Kindiki as new Deputy president hour after the impeachment of Rigathi Gachagua.
Speaker of the national assembly Moses Wetangula told parliament he had received communication from state house regarding the nomination.
Kindiki is set to be vetted by Mps before assuming office.
“Today morning, i have received a message from his excellency the president regarding the nomination of prof Kindiki, to feel the vacancy which has occurred in the office of the deputy president”, said Wetangula.
Gachagua on Thursday made history as the first deputy president to be ousted following an impeachment motion from both National assembly and senate.
