A police officer in Mwingi, Kitui County, has been detained for allegedly stabbing a school bursar during a dispute over tuition.

The suspect, Haji Boru, is said to have visited Mwingi Boys Secondary School on Monday to get a cash refund following an overpayment to the school through the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The funds were paid for Haji’s son who attends the school.

Commotion arose when the bursar, Alex Mwanzia, told Boru that the money could to his son’s college tuition account.

The bursar was then allegedly stabbed by the officer just below his left armpit.

He has been admitted to a nearby private hospital while he waits to give a police statement.

Boru is being detained at the Mwingi Police Station while he awaits his arraignment.
