Lamu,KENYA:Two people are nursing serious gunshot injuries at the Lamu county hospital after they were involved in a fight with a KDF officer.

The two are said to have gotten into a brawl at an unspecified bar in Hindi town on Sunday evening after which the KDF soldier is said to have drawn his gun and shot the two on the thigh and stomach.

According to eye witnesses, the three started arguing about an unknown topic since they were seated at the same table before gunshots were heard and the two fell to screaming in pain from the injuries.

“We heard them shouting at each other but couldn’t make out why but we ignored since that’s normal in bars. But then gunshots rang and two men lay bleeding on the floor.

The officer was later arrested and taken to the Mokowe police station.

Lamu county commissioner Joseph Kanyiri confirmed the incident but denied that any security officer was involved.

“Its true there was an incident at a bar in Hindi around 2.30 pm on  Sunday. Those injured were civilians but no security officer was involved. They have been taken to hospital and investigations are underway,”said Kanyiri.

A similar incident took place on February 10 this year after an administration police officer shot and seriously wounded his colleague after a brawl they had at  Waitiri bar in Mpeketoni.
