Invigilator arrested in Mombasa over KCPE exam cheating

Mombasa, KENYA: Police in Mombasa are holding one suspect who has allegedly been involved in exam theft in the ongoing KCPE exams that started Tuesday countrywide.

The female suspect who has been identified as Jackline Analo an invigilator at Mary Joy Academy in Bombolulu,Mombasa, is said to have opened the three papers with the intention of leaking the exams to pupils.

A source privy to investigations told Baraka FM that the suspect was told to open the maths paper, but went ahead and opened the three papers; that is English grammar and composition; which were due to to be done at 11 am and afternoon hours respectively.

Police also nabbed the supervisor who has been identified as Olive Ndemo who was at the said school.

Police accused the supervisor of failing to notify the detectives earlier.

Kisauni police boss Richard Ngatia confirmed the incident saying that one suspect is assisting police with the investigations and reiterated that the accused will be taken to court after investigations are over.

“We are holding one suspect of Mary Joy academy over exam irregularities, the investigations are underway as we are talking now,’’ Said Ngatia.

The police boss warned that stern  action will be taken against whoever will be found engaging in exam cheating and urged parents and students to be extra vigilant on fraudsters.

The suspect is being held at Nyali police station.
