Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua now wants President William Ruto to leave him and his family alone.

Speaking in Nairobi on Sunday, the former DP claimed the president had been cruel and malicious towards him and his family.

“Rigathi Gachagua and his family feel very exposed because these people have tried to kill us before, they have now tried to get us out of office,” said Gachagua.

I survived two assassination attempts, says Gachagua

He said that the President had caused him enough pain for the last one year.

“Do whatever you want with the country but allow me to live because I was here for you when you needed somebody to be there for you. I stood with you, you have paid us in kind by being cruel and malicious against us. We are simple people, we are a very small family, let us be,” said the former DP.

On matters impeachment, Gachagua expressed his hope that the courts of law will uphold and protect the constitution.

He also askes that President Ruto repect court orders saying there were orders in place asking that he remain in office until the matter is heard and determined.

“I ask the Chief Justice Martha Koome to live true to the fidelity of our constitution, to make sure this is a country of the rule of law, to allow the court process to take place,” said Gachagua.
