Mombasa, KENYA: A 63 year old man will serve 30 years at Shimo la Tewa maximum prison after he pleaded guilty to the charges of defiling his granddaughter.
Mr. Onesmus Mwadime on Wedneday pleaded guilty of defiling his granddaughter aged 13 years in a Mombasa court.
He told court that he was drunk on the day he committed the offence and asked for forgiveness.
“I shared the bed with my granddaughter, I was drunk and that is the reason that made me defile her,” he told court.
He committed the offence on 11th March 2017 in Mirima area, Likoni sub County within Mombasa County.
In his judgement, Mombasa senior resident magistrate Edigah Kagoni said Mr.Mwadime failed to take care of his granddaughter and instead decided to cause harm to her.
“I therefore sentence the accused person to 30 years imprisonment ,and you have a right to appeal within 14 days,” Kagoni ruled.
