Mombasa,KENYA:A Mombasa court on Monday ordered Nairobi senator Mike Mbuvi Sonko to pay a forfeit of sh.100, 000 or face six month imprisonment within 14 days for failure to produce Mombasa Republican Council chairman Omar Mwamnuadzi.
Senior principal magistrate Francis Kyiambia on Monday said senator Sonko had a mandate to produce MRC leader since he stood surety for him.
In court ruling Kyiambia said that Sonko was summoned several times to come and explain the whereabouts of the MRC leader which he cooperated with the court.
Mwamnuadzi and 39 others were accused of being members of the outlawed group of MRC and possession of a firearm and several rounds of ammunition.
Mwamnuadzi has absconded court since March last year.
The court also directed that the case proceed on 28th July.
