Defending champions Kaya Tiwi humiliates Moi Girls in School Games

Mombasa, KENYA: National netball champions Kaya Tiwi from Kwale kicked off their title defense on a sounding note trouncing Moi Girls from Mandera 130-1 on Day One of the Copa Coca-Cola National Secondary Schools Term Two A Games at Shimo la Tewa and Shanzu Teachers College on Tuesday.

Doreen Achieng, Melda Oguda and Margaret Awino starred with 45, 42 and 18 points respectively to put Kaya Tiwi in a pole position of retaining the title they won last year.

Elsewhere, former champions Obambo Mixed from Kisumu overcame St Dorcas from Nairobi 48-15 in readiness for a mouthwatering clash with Kaya Tiwi on Wednesday.

In soccer, boys the highly billed clashed between perennial rivals St. Anthony from Kitale who are the reigning champions and Kakamega High of Western region ended in a barren draw with both sides firing blank.

Coast champions Ramisi who tackles Kakamega High on Wednesday edged Garrisa High 1-0, the later take on St. Anthony in match day two.

In handball boys, Barani Secondary from Coast lost 31-14 to Mukumu Boys from Western region while Eastern region representatives Nduluni overcame Sheikh Ali from North Eastern 41-16.

In girls category, defending champions Moi Girls Kamusinga fought hard before narrowly beating Utithi from Eastern 30-28 as St. Francis Cheptarit of Rift Valley thrashes Wajir Secondary 52-0.

Wednesday’s handball fixtures will see Utithi come up against St. Francis Cheptarit as Wajir take on Moi Girls Kamusinga while Sheikh Ali play Mukumu as Barani square it with Nduluni.
