12 charged in court for stealing fertilizer worth sh. 2.8M

Mombasa, KENYA: Twelve people were on Monday charged in a Mombasa court for allegedly stealing fertilizer worth Sh. 2.8 million shillings.

The suspects were arrested on the the night of 31st May 2017, at 8 pm in Changamwe Mombasa County.

Court heard that the suspects jointly with others not before court stole 28 tonnes of the loose CAN fertilizer valued at Sh. 2.8 million belonging to Buzeki enterprises limited.

The fertilizer was being ferried in a motor make Axor which was in transit from Kenya Ports Authority, to the ETG ware house in Bonje area.

They denied charges before Mombasa resident magistrate Lilian Lewa.

Ms Lewa ordered the accused persons released on a bond of Sh.100, 000 each.

The prosecution confirmed that the fertilizer was recovered.

The case will be heard on 2nd July 2017.
