Wellwisher pledges to construct houses for flood victims in Mombasa

Mombasa,KENYA:More than one thousand families who lost their homes following the rains that have hit Mombasa the past two weeks may sigh in relief after a well wisher Mr. Ahmad Mohammed Al Falasi pledged to construct new homes for them.

Speaking in Mombasa Mr. Al Falasi who was accompanied by Mombasa Governor Hassan Ali Joho alongside other officials said he was going to start the process of constructing the new homes as soon as possible.
“We have some companies in Dubai who do low cost housing for families and we want to know how many families lost their homes during the floods and thereafter ask these companies to do these houses for these families as soon as possible.” He said.

Mr. Al Falasi who has in the past donated medical equipment at the Coast Provincial General Hospital , also pledged to donate more equipment and furniture for hospital and other health facilities within the County and promised to consider the County government request of donating a complete set of radiotherapy machine worth sh 200 million.

“I thank Governor Joho and the people of Mombasa for allowing me the opportunity to respond to the needs of Mombasa residents. They are our brothers and sisters and very valuable to us. We shall bring in MRI,other equipment and supplies,” Mr Al Falasi added.

Governor Hassan Ali Joho appreciated the donor saying that his generosity had made a huge impact on the lives of residents in the coast region.

So far, the county government has evacuated at least 1643 people who are currently staying in various rescue centers across the Sub Counties in Mombasa County.
