Mombasa,KENYA:A bodaboda rider who is a chief witness in a murder case has denied having an affair with a woman who was allegedly killed by husband.

Khamis Juma in a hearing in a Mombasa court on Wednesday denied before lady justice Dora Chepkwony that he had an affair with Esther Kagura Kariungi who is alleged to have been killed by her husband Mutinda Munyoki who is the chief suspect in the case.

Juma told the court that he had visited the deceased at her Utange home on 25th October 2015 at 7.00 pm when the deceased who was dressed in a nightgown told him that her husband was coming home on that day so he decided to leave but the accused Mutinda showed up and started beating him and the deceased.

The witness said he fled from the scene and ran off to his relatives house to seek treatment from his injuries only to hear a few days later that Esther had been killed.

It is alleged that the accused had long suspected that his deceased wife was having an affair with Juma who was a boda boda rider.

The accused is then alleged to have killed his wife after finding Juma in the house.

Postmortem results show the deceased had been hit with a blunt object on her head and strangled.

Another witness in the case Tsuma Machache who is the area assistant chief, told the court that  the woman’s body was found dangling on a tree with bloody footprints tracing back to the house the couple shared.

The case has been ongoing for the past one year with chief witnesses testifying on Wednesday.
