Mombasa,KENYA:Shimo La Tewa Member of County Assembly MCA Bakari Ali Munyi has passed away.
According to reports by close friends, the MCA died on Monday evening while travelling to Nairobi from Mombasa.
Bakari had lost in the just concluded ODM primaries to an emerging politician Sammy Ndago in the ward and was intending to vie to retain his seat in the August polls as an independent candidate.
During the nominations, Bakari got a total of 602 votes in his ward, twelve votes less than what his rival Sammy got.
Sammy got total of 714 votes something that sparked Bakari’s intention of defending his seat on an independent ticket.
The diseased has now served two terms as a counselor during the local governments and currently a Member of County Assembly since the inception of the county governments.
Till his demise, the deceased had been schedule to attend a workshop on energy in Ukunda- Kwale county beginning today to Thursday 4th of May 2017.
Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi is among the dignitaries who condoled with his family.
Kingi wrote on twitter ”Saddened by the demise of Shimo La Tewa ward MCA Hon. Bakari Ali. My heartfelt condolences”
He has gone at the age of 57 and has left a wife and three children, one boy and two girls.
